We had a great day yesterday that included watching England beat Australia in the Rugby with a score of 12/10. So who came along? Teresa Power, Rona Everest-Todd, Maura Connors, Geraldine Shepherd (Honorary Set 446 member) Lisa Davison and Alison Dench. We met in the Blind Beggar before moving across to Murphy's (The White Hart) to join the massed crowds of Rugby fans watching the match on the big screens. Geraldine had a front row seat and was glued to the match from start to finish. We then made our way to the hospital for a tour of the outside and a quick look inside, exploring the very neglected basement.

Lisa had left us to go and meet a man in Town, Alison went off for a night out at the Barbican and Geraldine drove Maura, Teresa and Rona off to find a curry in Muswell Hill. By this time hunger had set in and the sun was setting. A wonderful day and so many memories to catch up on and lots of recent news to hear. Well we now have the email addresses of Maura, Rona, Teresa and Geraldine to add to the list in preparation for our 35 year reunion. This means that you too can now catch with them too.

My mission now is to track the remainder of the Set down before we next meet up. Any clues to their whereabouts would be great to hear - go on, rack those brains!! Any suggestions welcome.

Would you like to join us for another mini-reunion on Saturday 6 October? Maura Connors, Teresa Power and Rona Everest-Todd were unable to come along for the 30 year Reunion but are able to all be together for a mini reunion at Whitechapel. Please let me know if you would like to join us? It would be good to see you there. It'll be an opportunity for more photos and more catching up. Click here to let me know?

Memories and stories about last Saturday coming up soon. In the meantime, if your update and photos are not yet up on the website please try to get them to me in the next day or two? (I am planning to get the site updated over the weekend)

If, like me you are Pisces I was thrown by Tuesday's stars in The London Paper; 'A reunion is likely now. Even if something isn't being celebrated, you look set to come into contact with people you haven't seen in some time and there's a curious link to certain faces connected with far away or overseas. Enjoy the get-together planned now. It will be a while before you see certain people again' (The London Paper, 01 May 2007)

Today 30 years ago was a Thursday. This was our 1st day in School. We had talks from all sorts of people including the Security man. Mid morning we had an hour long Multiple Choice paper. Groups A & B were formed and off we went for the a tour of the School and a visit to the library. We were given our Purple Passions, the 1st of so many uniforms to follow over the years and the most memorable.

Thank you to everyone who has sent messages from all across the globe for today - it seems like together we are going to celebrate our 30 year reunion wherever we happen to be this afternoon. Angela has been the 1st to experience the day - how did it go Angela?!!!

I'll be back here tomorrow. Have fun x

On this date 30 years ago we all arrived at The London Hospital with trunks, cases, some people with their parents. We had previously been sent a letter inviting us to meet in the London Hospital canteen from 3pm for a cup of tea. In the canteen we were asked to all be ready to move across into the sitting room in Luckes Home by 4.30pm. Trunks were taken to our rooms for unpacking and parents left for home. The 1st talk we had  was from the Chief Fire Officer and then we had the rules and regulations of Luckes Home explained by Miss Woods; the Home Warden. Then it was a free evening to unpack and get ready for the big day tomorrow.

There are now 15 of us meeting up for the reunion on Saturday (see the list click here) When Julia was deciding whether or not to book a flight over from Kuala Lumper it was conditional on there being at least 19 people coming to the reunion - that was my mission, mission failed, OH NO! Well, too late Julia you are already here now - so mission accomplished.

Oh this day just gets better and better - a 4th person from the Set tracked down today. Heather is responsible for this one so has lived up to the challenge (see 12 April entry below) - thank you Heather. The latest addition is Margaret and I am about to put her update on the 'Where are they now' section. Like Maura, Teresa and Rona, Margaret is also unable to come along on Saturday but we now have them ready for 2017! Only 19 people yet to find.

YES YES YES hurrah........ 3 more people traced at the last minute. Now in contact with Maura, Teresa and Rona. Having exhausted every avenue trying to trace these three, convinced they would still be in contact with each other, finally a result! Just spoken with Maura and believe it or not she is going away to France with Teresa and Rona this weekend. Unfortunately it means they won't be at the reunion but they will be sending in photos and updates about what they have been doing for the last 30 years. So keep your eye on the 'Where are they now' section for more info over the coming weeks. Me, for one am thrilled to bits with this news - it has made my day. Thank you Maura!

The weather forecast on Saturday is for sunshine all day, 23 degrees and sunset is at 2015 - seems like we have the ingredients for a perfect day for being out and about in Whitechapel

The furthest being travelled for the reunion so far is Julia who is flying over from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia - as you may imagine she will be staying overnight! Update Julia is already here, up in York with her daughter Katie who is at Uni there. She is off to Betty's tea room for supper now after a busy day shopping. The jet lag has obviously taken its toll. Julia has caught the website bug and there are now 2 new photos on there for you to see click here

We have 7 days to trace and contact 22 people (9 of which came to the reunion in 1987). Your challenge for this week is for YOU to find ONE of the missing 22 - up for it?

Here is the names of the people that have contacted me to confirm whether or not they are able to come along next Saturday

iIf you are able to come to the Reunion AND would like to join us for the tour of A&E at 1100 please let me know during the week but before Saturday? (see Plan for more details)

* Joining the tour of A&E at 1100

I have direct contact with 20 of the Set with a further 5 are yet to establish contact but are known about. 52 members of the Set commenced training. So by my reckoning we are missing 23 people (3 didn't stay long - Amanda, David & Gillian)

Confirmed as being at the Reunion

Two great events for our reunion day
  1. Did you watch the BBC Documentary Trauma series filmed from the Royal London Hospital and aired during 2005 followed by a 2nd series in 2006? Well if so you will remember the two fantastic Nurses that featured in the series each week; Elaine & Toni. Well they have both organised for us to have a visit to Accident & Emergency department with one of the Sister's on duty on our reunion day. Those of us who would like to be a part of this tour will need to meet outside the Department at 1100. As you can imagine this arrangement may be subject to change on the day.

  1. Charlie Sheldon who is the Deputy Director of Nursing for Barts and the London NHS Trust has agreed to organise a special event for us all from 1500. We are going to meet for tea & coffee (& herbal tea) at the Royal London Hospital and Charlie will give us a 20 minute presentation about the London since 1980 (no mean feat!) Then we will be splitting into two groups and will have a guided tour of a variety of Wards. This will include a visit to a new 40 bedded Ward that has been built to reflect the Ward design for the new hospital currently under construction. We will also visit a Ward in the same design as 1977 and another Ward that did not exist in 1980 & opened in 1993 - you may remember what used to be in the space!!!

Please let me know if you would like to be included in the tour of A&E department to start at 1100? I am assuming that we will all go to the event with Charlie as it will be after lunch and we will all be together by then. For people who are not able to get along for 1100 (or do not want to look round A&E) please go along to the Blind Beggar as originally planned for a drink and we will join you when we are done.

This time in 2 weeks many of us will be in the Blind Beggar to meet up for our reunion. Please would you let me know if you are planning to come along as I will confirm numbers with the restaurant this week? If the weather today is the same as on 28 April then it will be fab (for those of you overseas, it is going to be in the 70s today and up into the 80s tomorrow – spooky for April)

Having discovered so many of you with a love of horses, real or virtual, I breathed a sigh of relief with the timing – it is not Grand National day for our reunion – its today! Apart from being a fan of Black Beauty as a child my personal connection with horses is minimal but I would imagine if you loved horses the Grand National would not be for you. I cannot watch it. Anyway I digress (I will be digging up my allotment when the race runs but my money is on Red Rum to win - opps oh sorry, that was in 1977)

Back to Set 446 – I had a few 'techie' hitches with the website during the week but with the help of a computer whiz  and 3 hours of activity last night the problem was finally resolved. So, the website is now updated and contains new pictures on nearly every page from the ‘Photo Gallery’ and new pictures taken this week for the ‘The London in 2007’ page.

I’ve been in the LH Museum and Archives this week and will bring along a list of all the items for sale in the museum if you would like to order any of the books and things. I bought a copy of the film ‘Not so much a training, more away of life’ – for those of you who remember this film was shown to us during the ‘At Home’ on 30 May 1977, it was made in the 1960s and is very funny, especially in 2007.

I will also bring along some membership forms to complete if you would like to join the RLH League of Nurses. Membership is currently around ~ 1707 Nurses and the annual subscription is £10

Enjoy surfing around the website and I look forward to hearing from you. Remember, I need to know if you are joining us. I look forward to my inbox being flooded with replies from you all :~)

Jane x

PS I've booked the Museum to be open for our reunion in 2012 so put the date in your diary - 28 April 2012
