There was my Mother worried I'd marry too young!!"  posted by Nicky 21.04.07   "Another memory was going down to Minehead in Somerset one holiday, walking down the high street and bumping into Judy Bethal"  posted by Nicky 21.04.07

"Steady Nick with those stories...one of my earliest memories of living in the nursing home was Ailsa Murray in her dressing gown and toothbrush in hand at 8.30pm as some of us were about to go out for the night during the introductory course??!"  posted by Trish 10.04.07   "Meeting the MOST unfriendly social secretary Mrs Watson...I asked for the local hockey club and she told me there wasn't one and to start one myself...yeh right!"  posted by Trish, 10.04.07

A bit of a shock" Posted by Annabel 26.03.07   "Friday 29 April 1977 We put on our purple passions for the 1st time. Went for breakfast in the canteen and then into School.   "Monday 30 May in the evening we had our 'At Home' in the Common Room at the School of Nursing. The tutors were there and lots of the Mum's and Dad's were there too. We saw a recruitment film about The London it was made around 1960 and we all found it very funny" posted by Jane S 26.03.07

"I also remember doing the night round on my first night and realising that I was the repeating the same three diagnosis in exact rotation, it was so weird even saying it that I was almost laughing. The charge nurse clearly thought I was making it up and checked - he was as surprised as I was that I was right (I'd guessed the ages and they must have been close enough!)"  posted by Julia 23.03.07

"We used to let one of the patients smoke at the nurses station on our nights (better than setting his bed on fire). We always went and smoked out of the bathroom window even though no-one would have known the difference, but the charge nurse (who always stood too close to you on rounds)  accused us of burning the Kardex. Fortunately Jane (the acting sister) backed us up as the patient had done it a week earlier on her shift"  posted by Julia 23.03.07 (edited by Jane!)

"I remember those enormous bath tubs, with steps to get into them and the large notice telling you to get dried and apply talcum powder BEFORE getting out of the bath. You then had to climb back up to clean the bath out with that horrible scratchy vim. I still can't get out of the shower without drying my feet first!"  posted by Julia 23.03.07

"The cat [see below] was rescued outside the school of nursing by Angela, Rose and I, eventually giving birth under Rose's bed (it was Jubilee Day and we were the only people not having a day off as we were in PTS) We eventually found a home for cat and kittens, before going to Mile End" posted by Julia 21.03.07
